PostSubject: Death Certificate   Sat May 09, 2009 12:54 am

I've asked this question to a couple of BTK lovers and I haven't got much response. So I'm gonna ask on here if it is true that there is no death record on Billy? if so then why wasn't a legal one issued? would love to hear everyones opinion concerning the matter. Question Question

From my knowledge Billy didn't have an actual “official” death certificate, just a coroner's report made out by Justice of the Peace, Milnor Rudulph . I don't think death certificates were mandatory and strictly enforced in those days.

Here's a link from Lucas Speers website regarding that coroner's report:

Marcelle is right (as usual) on both counts. Death certificates were not mandatory in most states until after 1900. The original of Billy’s coroners report has been lost I understand and all there is is a copy. I could be wrong on this since I am not such a "Billy researcher" and spend my time on the LCW itself. There has also been some controversy about the possibility of the report having been altered or faked…at least as some of the "conspiracy theory" boys tell the stort.

Bronte, it was usually just a matter of digging a hole and sticking the body in it. I am very suspect of the coroners report.

The issue with the death certificate does sound a little fishy. However that was almost a hundred and thirty yrs ago so I'm sure things were kinda slack as far as keeping up with legal records and such. Wink Wink

Besides in the July heat and no embalming I would think they would have to get a dead body buried as soon as possible. With or without a death certificate.
